K-8 Frequently Asked Questions

  • What time does school start and end?
St. Vincent de Paul school will open at 7:30am. Classes begin promptly at 7:45am. School ends at 2:30pm. Students must be picked up before 2:45pm to avoid late charges.
  • Where do I drop off and pick up my child(ren)?
Students can be dropped off and picked up at the gym doors on McArthur Street. The office is also available for drop offs and pick ups. McArthur Street is a NO PARKING ZONE. Families must DRIVE-THRU to drop off and pick up their child(ren). STV staff members will be available each morning and afternoon to safely retrieve and return your child(ren) from your vehicle. There is no need to get out of your vehicle. If you must get out of your vehicle, we encourage you to park on High Street or Chestnut Street and WALK to McArthur Street.
  • What if McArthur Street is full of cars during pickup or dropoff?
Unfortunately, there is no turning lane onto McArthur Street. We cannot hold up traffic on Chestnut Street - it is illegal and causes traffic jams that emergency vehicles cannot pass through. If there is a line already formed on McArthur Street, please circle the block until your vehicle can fully enter the line. You may also park on High Street and walk to the gym doors. Veteran tip - Arrive 5 minutes later than normal to avoid long lines.
  • Do I need to send money in for my child for lunch?
No. Students do not pay for their lunches in the lunch line. We use a billing system through a family portal called FACTS. We will send you a lunch bill each month or you can add funds to your account in advance. Please pay your lunch bill to avoid not receiving report cards each quarter. If you need assistance with lunch payments, we encourage you to apply for the Free and/or Reduced Lunch.
  • Where can I purchase uniforms?
Uniforms can be purchased at most major retail stores. We have found them at Kohls, Target, Meijer, Children's Place, JCPenney, Old Navy. We also partner with Lands End for special deals throughout the Summer months. We also have a gently used uniform closet available for you to look through during the school year. Please call the office to make an appointment or stop by during office hours.
  • How do I get the STV logo onto my child(ren)'s polo collar?
We have two vendors that can provide vinyl and embroidery services for the STV logo on the uniform collar. You purchase a polo and drop them off to one of these two local businesses for a fee. We also encourage students to wear jackets to school starting in October. Hats & gloves are also recommended. Student must be dressed appropriately to participate in outside recess.
  • What is a "Dress Down for a Good Cause Day?"
Dress Down for a Good Cause is on the first Friday of each month. Each month, our principal chooses a worthy cause to support. Students can choose to participate by donating .50 cents (K-3) or $1.00 (4-8). Students bring in this money to give to their homeroom teacher first thing in the morning. All proceeds are collected and tallied for a combined total to donate on behalf of the school. Students that do not participate must wear regular uniform clothes. Students can wear St. Vincent de Paul school spirit wear or everyday clothes in accordance with our school guidelines. No crop tops. Tight leggings must be paired with a long top that covers the bottom.
  • What is an early release day?
Early releases typically always happen the first Wednesday of each month. Students will be released one hour early from school at 1:30pm. Pick up and drop off locations remain the same.
  • Can students in K-3 wear PE unform pants, shorts and jackets?
No. Students in K-3 are required to wear a PE gym shirt with regular uniform bottoms along with tennis shoes on their designated gym days. Students in K-3 are prohibited from wearing 4-8 gym uniform bottoms or the track jacket. Please do not purchase these items for your students in K-3.
  • How many hours must I volunteer?
Each family is required to serve 25 hours during one (1) academic year. This can be fulfilled though donations as well. $35 spend on a donated item equals 1 hour of service time. Service time can be acquired through any family member that has a Protecting God's Children Class and a background check on file.
  • Where do I log my volunteer hours?
All volunteer hours must be logged by individuals families through their FACTS Family Portal. Please create an account. Go to "Family Home" in the left side panel menu. Choose the family member in the top drop down box. Click "Add+" in the top of your individual service hour box. Add the time, date and service performed.
  • How do I sign up to volunteer?
If you would like to signup to volunteer, you must first attend a Protecting God's Children class and obtain a background check. After this is completed, you can click on the school sign-up genius to volunteer for a slot that is available. Teachers will also send out volunteers signups for class parties or field trips.
