St. Vincent de Paul School’s varsity basketball team claimed victory over their staff and coaches in Friday night’s charity game with a score of 42-29. The game wasn’t the students’ only victory, the event itself was created, organized, and publicized by the seventh and eighth grade students.
Students are sponsoring two children from the Montana de Luz orphanage. The orphanage, with an office in Columbus, offers a home, education, job training, and medical care for children affected by HIV and AIDS in Honduras.
The basketball game and bake sale raised $500 and also included donations of items requested by the orphanage. The donations will be used for Easter care packages for the orphanage.
Thank you to all who donated and attended!
After months of preparation and hard work on their experiments, the SVDP School students got a chance to show their discoveries to judges this morning, 4th Feb 2016. The judges were made up of professionals from various industries, alumni, parents and some experts from some of the subject areas in town. Wow, they did not look nervous at all explaining their findings to their judges! The experience and exposure they receive from such events are very significant in their education. Some of the research areas included BioFuels, Freezing, Solar Energy, Insulation, Ash and Plants, Corrosion, Winglets, Water filtration and Hero’s Engine. We congratulate the students and their teachers for working hard on their projects. Keep shining SVDP School! Enjoy these few photographs from the event!
As usual, we celebrated a special night of The Savior’s birth with a Brother Bond theme. We started off with some awesome music from the St Vincent de Paul School Orchestra. That was spectacular. Then the pre-school kids stepped up with some awesome display—everyone was laughing. It was very touching! The main play capped it to a perfect start to Christmas 2015. Thank you all for making the SVDP a truly special family.
