Our dedicated, hard-working team of faculty and staff makes St. Vincent de Paul School and Preschool what it is today. The faculty has over 200 years of combined teaching experience. Seventy-five percent of our graduates continue to play high school sports and eight out of ten of our graduates attend college. We have been honored as a “Buckeye Best School” award and grant recipient since 2003, we are listed in the Global Directory of Who’s Who, and we are accredited by the state of Ohio through the Ohio Catholic School Accrediting Association.
Mrs. Downs became St. Vincent’s principal in 2008. For the twenty years prior, she was St. Vincent’s Kindergarten teacher. She is a product of Catholic Education 1-12th grade, attending school in Lancaster, Ohio. She now lives with her family in Mount Vernon. Mrs. Downs is a Graduate of Miami University and is currently continuing her quest in education through Ohio Dominican University. She has been teaching and involved with St. Vincent since 1988. In addition to teaching kindergarten, Mrs. Downs has also taught preschool, served as an Athletic Commissioner and Athletic Director, and coached boys and girls volleyball, girls basketball, and track. Her two children are graduates of St. Vincent.
To her, St. Vincent is special because of the supportive family style atmosphere, the active parental involvement and the emphasis on Christ in education.
