Faculty and Staff

Our dedicated, hard-working team of faculty and staff makes St. Vincent de Paul School and Preschool what it is today. The faculty has over 200 years of combined teaching experience. Seventy-five percent of our graduates continue to play high school sports and eight out of ten of our graduates attend college. We have been honored as a “Buckeye Best School” award and grant recipient since 2003, we are listed in the Global Directory of Who’s Who, and we are accredited by the state of Ohio through the Ohio Catholic School Accrediting Association.

Photo of Linda Gibson
Reading Teacher

Mrs. Gibson graduated from Muskingum College and began her career teaching American Literature to high school juniors. After a few years, it became obvious that several of the students struggled with reading material because they did not have the skills needed for success. So – back to school – this time to Kent State University where she earned an M.Ed. degree in special reading. Since then, she has worked as a private reading tutor and, since 1981, as the Special Reading teacher at St. Vincent de Paul School.

She appreciates the family atmosphere at St. Vincent and is happy to see that the school continues to provide a solid education for its students. She loves being able to work with small groups – sometimes over a period of several years – while still having the flexibility to plan programs for individual students.

Reading has always been a main hobby, and she agrees with Robert Frost who wrote:

“My object in living is to unite my avocation and my vocation . . . And the work is play”

I am very happy to be working at St. Vincent, where my kids attend school! As a matter of fact, I was a St. Vincent Blue Streak MANY years ago! St. Vincent is a wonderful place to work with so many caring and focused staff members. The Wendt Family firmly believes in the value of a Catholic education…we hope our youngest sons will be blessed enough to follow in the footsteps of their older brother and attend Newark Catholic HS in the coming years.

In my time not spent attending football, basketball, wrestling, and track events, I love to get lost in a good book.
